>> What is the best oil to use in the gear box? What is it we hear about synthetic oil and gear box ? Can I go synthetic?
Your manual warns against synthetics in the gearbox, but you can install Saab's new synthetic if the TSB procedures are followed diligently. Let me know if you need a copy and I'll email it to you. Otherwise, I'd advise using 10w30 fossil oil, as historical evidence suggests that this gearbox is fluid sensitive. Think twice (no, more than that) before using Redline MTL.
>> Under the hood on the fender housing, the Saab sticker is telling me to gap my spark plugs at .024 to .028 (0,6 to 0,7mm) but everywhere else they are telling me to gap them at .039....
Hmmm, that's odd. Mine (also a '95 Aero) sez 1 mm +.1 -.2 (.039 +.004
-.008). My owner and service manuals all say 1 mm, but the variance isn't consistent. I'd set them to 1 mm.
>> Has anyone ever changed valve seals without taking the head off(with compressed air through the spark plug hole using a Snap-On comp. tester hose)? Unless that cloud of blue smoke upon starting on cold morning comes from something else!
Could be the turbo seal, but I'd suspect valve guides. This shouldn't be the case with only 80k miles, though. You said it is blue, but could it be white? Does it dissipate rapidly, suggesting that it might be coolant?
>> Is there a manual that explains the function and specs of all controls and sensors for my car? What is the part number of the Saab repair manual covering these items?
Try #0364331 (Electrical System, Wiring Diagrams) and #0360552 (Electrical System, Components).
