...but recent evidence suggests the cheaper Fram models are no longer a good risk. I've never heard of the X2, but it is probably a synthetic fiber element like high-priced competitive brands like Mobil 1, AC Delco Duraguard Gold, and Amsoil.
The problems with Fram's cheaper filters isn't so much the filtration ability but the general construction. Cheap construction materials may lead to internal leakage, allowing some oil to escape the filter element.
Personally, I'd go with another brand just for the peace of mind until you can determine the new filter is worthy of your purchase. I decided on the AC Delco Duraguard based solely on the claims given on their website, which made sense to me. I change my oil at 10k intervals with no interim filter change, and two recent oil analyses show the oil is getting filtered well.
