Anyone replaced the boot over the shift linkage? Posted by Craig [Email] (#3854) [Profile/Gallery]

I noticed that the small rubber boot that goes over the shifter linkage rod between the rubber coupler and the transmission has come apart in the middle exposing the linkage rod. This bothers me as I'm afraid it might be letting dirt into the transmission. Has anyone replaced the boot before? It looks like it wouldn't fit over the bracket that holds the coupler and I'm unsure how it would fit on otherwise. Also, what is used to retain the boot, ie will I have to order new clips to attach the new one. The car is an '87 9kT.
Any advice is much appreciated!
