I still don't buy the "must run NGK" reasoning. Saab is far from the only company using a coil on plug setup. And I'm sure that each of those manufactures would "recommend" using one brand of plug verses another. The key with the Saab setup is the turbo. Any engine running a turbo, supercharger or nitros is much more sensitive to spark plug specs. As you dramatically increase cylinder pressure (as with a turbo/supercharger) you make it more difficult for the spark to jump the gap. This in turn makes the ignition system work harder (which is bad for the DI and no doubt leads to their early failure). I still feel the problem isn't running non NGK plugs, its running the wrong "type" of plug and even worse running too large a gap.
