Front exhaust pipe - possible fix or replace

The front exhaust pipe broke on my 91 9000 turbo (auto) It broke at the end where it attaches to the turbo. It was a clean break about an inch from the flange which keeps it attached to the turbo. The pipe is in otherwise good shape. My question is can I even consider the possibility of removing and welding the piece back on OR will I have to replace the whole pipe. It's strange how it broke on my way home from the dealer after the exhaust was inspected by them. Anyway just wanted to see if anyone had had the same experience with this pipe or if this fix would work. If I need to get a new pipe I'm looking for leads as to where I could find it for less than the $230 the dealer wants for it.
