Thanks for the response Gary. I'm very concerned with whatever is causing the car to run hot. I can't tell if it's from the leaking head gasket or something else. In this case the #4 cylinder was getting coolant. My temperature gauge was running up to the red zone before opening the first trip of the day. Because of this, I had the dealer put in a new thermostat and check the car out in December. There was no change. After the thermostat opened, the gauge dropped to the lower third of the scale and then stayed in the middle. This went on for about two months. Then about one day ago the car started to run even hotter. That's when I took it in again.
I'll be getting a one year warranty with the new head and will be watching my coolant temperature very closely. I don't know what else to do. The mechanics are under the gun to get the cars in and out so it's hard to tell how closely they'll look for reasons for the overheating. Guess I'll stop in tomorrow and discuss it with them. Does anyone know if the leaking head gasket could be causing the overheating?
