As I went through this awhile back. I used the charts from Townsends site to verify that my compressor was good and there was a sufficent charge. I believe the only way to do this correctly is to hook up the gauges to the low and high side of the compressor. At townseds site there is a chart that tells what the readings should be. But if your compressors not running when the A/C's turned on then this may be hard to do. Did you run the ACC test to see if any readings come back? Checked all wires to the compressor? Made sure the capilary tube from the expansion valve is placed on the hose to the evaporator? I forgot this and noticed I could not get very cold air out. It's a thought...
