220 for oil doesn't sound that hot to me. I have a VW with a VR6 and the oil temp regularly gets that hot, warm day or not, although maybe on the coldest days it doesn't quite get there, and even up to 240 or 250 on really hot days. Temps above 212 are good, to boil off water and gunk and keep the oil clean. Check it often and change it every 3k-5k or whatever makes you happy and don't worry about it. If the oil is getting too hot it will break down faster and just change it then. My $.02
