I don't mean that you'd sell the car with a blown tranny. I mean that if you want a manual tranny car, usually your best choice is to buy a manual tranny car. Just like the best way to get a turbo car is to buy one, not try and convert a normally-aspirated car.
True, there is no difference in ECUs in those years. I said EDU - the manual car has a different display than the automatic, which shows what gear you're in. Not a big difference, but what the heck, if you're going to drive a point home, drive it all the way.
