The front mudflaps fit fine - I fitted some to my 97 Aero about 2 months ago. There are two bolts that can be reused (instead of using the ones in the fitting kit) in the arch at the flap's widest part, and then two metal eyelets that exactly line up with the two small bolts that hold the wheel arch trim to the wheel arch - simply unscrew the lower bolt of the two, and push the eyelet over it, then screw back up. The top eyeelit is a little tricky. I haven't screwed the top of the flap on - it is simply pushed over the protruding head of the arch trim bolt, as I would have to cut a small section ( the size of the eyelet) out of the arch trim to be able to push the flap eyelet over sufficiently. It doesn't "flap " at all, and still fits snugly.
This is the reason that SAAB say that the flaps don't fit Aeros - because the arch trim has a lip all the way around that gets in the way of the two upper eyelets.
The rear's do not fit, although I didn't try removing the smal built in ones first (held on by the same pair of bolts inside the arch as the fronts).
Hope this is useful.
