Blacking out, Debadging, and Tinting Posted by Keith [Email] (#1462) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Keith) on Thu, 17 May 2001 14:05:43 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
After washing my 1990 9000 turbo (Malachite Green), I noticed that the black around the window trim is fading and the silver on the badges is also coming off. I've been thinking about blacking out the chrome trim and debadging the car, but I've never done this before.
Window trim - I was thinking of just removing the trim and painting it. Is it possible to leave it on there and paint it? Or, should I just buy new, black trim?
Door handles - The handles themselves have also faded. How can I get the entire handle to look black instead of dark grey?
Door trim - One of the pieces of my door trim was replaced with the all black trim of the 1991-92 9000 turbos. I'll probably look through a junk yard for these pieces.
Debadging - How do I remove the badges without breaking them? Is there a special remover I should use?
Tinting - I used photoshop to "tint" the windows of my car, and I think it looked pretty good. Should I have this professionally done, or is it something that I can do myself? I've seen some DIY jobs, and they have looked terrible.
Thanks for any input about any of this. I'd love to see some pics of older 9000's with some of these things done. And of course, I'm on a limited budget; while it would be nice to have someone do everything for me, I don't think I could afford that. Thanks again!
