In either case, you can't really take the (+) off left as right as the subwoofer input, the stock deck/amp is not designed for that. You can do that with many aftermarket amplifiers, however, though it's not always the two (+) you connect to, sometimes is (+) of one channel and (-) of the other..
If it's a self powered subwoofer, it should have speaker level inputs (should have left and right if you're lucky), and this is what you can connect to the stock speaker terminals. If it's a passive subwoofer, you'll need to buy a separate amplifier for it.
