I was referring to the arm that comes out of the turbo, not the boost control rod. When the boost control rod is disconnected, the wastegate arm has nearly 180 degrees of throw. I tried adjusting the control rod to force the wastegate shut, but I still show no boost. I do not believe if the wastegate flap was present I would get that much movement in the arm and by forcing it into a closed position, I should see some boost with the W hose disconnected from the boost solenoid. I am looking into rebulding the turbo I have from the 87 as all it appears to need is a basic rebuild kit. I will probably end up with more turbo lag but at least I will get boost.
