Joe:

My last car was a heavily-modified 944 Turbo ("951") that developed in excess of 400HP at the crank (dyno-tested) and I went through a handful of turbos in the pursuit for more power so I have a wee bit of experience here. A few things to consider:

1. What year is your 951? If it is a 1986, 1987 or non-S 1988 version, you may want to consider buying a used or rebuilt K-26/8 turbo from a later car as it will give you much more power when coupled with a set of performance chips.

2. If you're not already a member, check-out http://www.rennlist.org. This is a web-based mailing list that is similar to saabnet.com and you can specify which lists you want to read (e.g. 951 or 924/944/968). There are many guys on the list who have been down this path before and can offer some great first-hand insight.

3. Are you looking to upgrade your car or leave it stock? These cars can make nearly 300HP at the crank with very little $$ spent.

4. Great websites to check-out are http://www.huntleyracing.com and http://www.powerhaus.com. Derrek at Huntley and David at Powerhaus are "experts" in proper turbo sizing for a given level of HP.

I know this message is sort of a tangent on your original request so I apologize for taking-up bandwith if you are only looking for a stock rebuild. Be warned, if you haven't already been bitten by the upgrade bug, once it happens, it's very hard (if not impossible) to stop!

Best of luck,

Derek
