However, last time I engaged the mechanic in conversation during a repair, afterwards, it could just be my paranoia, but I came away with a slight suspicion that talking to the mechanic may (or may not) have contributed to a slightly padded labor time. So, if possible, in future, I would delay an extended discussion with the mechanic until *after* the labor time is known / finalized.
