Driving my '93 2.3t CSE Auto today was a real pleasure - new Bilsteins, 40 mm lower speings - yes 40mm, new dics (rotors) hose and pads ( another story ), new suspension bushes all round, repaired A/C etc etc - it felt great.

However the real surprise today was that on my 80 milre round trip into Edinburgh the car was boosting way into the red like never before, not only that but really spooling up fast.

Having not done anything dramatic to the car to cause this other than tighten up all the turbo hose connections, I was very curious but happy. Coming back out of town I then tried to open the sunroof but it didn't activate. Sitting in traffic I checked the fuses and saw that No9 25a fuse was blown. According to the fuse box it protects the sunroof, rear windows and cigar lighter. When I replaced the fuse on the move however, the boost level was immediately and noticeably back to normal i.e just on the line between yellow and red.

The link between replacing the fuse and the drop in power was direct so I pulled the fuse again. On doing this the car only produced base boost about halfway along the yellow for about a minute and then suddenly activated full ( and controlled ) boost as before, halfway into the red. I repeated this again replacing and pulling the fuse with exactly the same results.

Needless to say I now don't have an actiove sunroof or rear windows as I would rather have the boost - but of course I am totaly curious as to what exactly is going on here. What other circuit is being affected by this fuse. The car is an auto and it seems to me like the reduced boost protection mechanisim has been disabled by pulling this fuse - only a guess though.

Anyone out there who can throw some light on this ??
