I like the strap wrench idea - wish I thought of that!

When we did ours a few weeks ago. I could not locate a set of channel locks large enough, so I asked my indy and he said he interlocked a pair of pry bars (in the form of an "X"). We did as suggested and it worked fine. We were fortunate in that the slot in the pry bar fit neatly over a ridge giving me a good purchase and clearance. It also helps if someone can place downward pressure on the bars while you turn it. Do it slowly and it should work fine. The Haynes does not tell much you about the pump assembly - the retainer that holds the fuel lines in place can be removed with a torx driver and that will keep you from breaking the tabs. Also the assembly does come apart some and that will make the reinsertion of the Walbro unit much easier. If your assembly unit has the hard plastic fuel lines, cut the one off to the old pump and replace it (very gently slice the end over the nipple with a razor knife along the length). You'll never get the old one on the pump.

Do clean as much of the dirt and sand out as you can before you open it. Good luck
