Disconnect the battery negative cable and wait AT LEAST 20 MINUTES for the trigger capacitor to discharge before disconnecting any part of the SRS system.

Never attempt to splice into any of the SRS cables.

Avoid hammering or causing harsh vibration at the front of the vehicle, as thisa may trigger the crash sensors.

Don't use ohmmeters or any other devices that can supply current on any SRS component as this may cause detonation.

Before working on the driver's airbag, lock the steering wheel in the straight-ahead position to avoid misaligning the contact unit when refitting the airbag.

Store and handle the airbags and seat-belt pretensioners as pyrotechnic devices according to applicable laws. Don't leave them disconnected from their wiring for any longer than necessary as they are unstable when disconnected. Store it with the metal bracket downwards (presumably so that accidental detonation doesn't turn it into a projectile), well away from anything flammable. Never leave it unattended.


I would say one thing you might have problems with if you are replacing an original airbag that hasn't been detonated is disposal.
