Tough spot to be in. I'm a lawyer, but don't take this as specific legal advice to you in your current situation - I don't represent you. If *I* were in that spot, I'd quiz the saabnet indy very thoroughly as to whether it's possible that there was any other cause to your failure, or if the improper installation of the torque converter is the only way this could have happened. Then ask him if he'd be willing to testify to that fact, assuming that you'd pay him for his time. If so, take it to small claims court. You don't need a lawyer, just be prepared to present your case in a clear, logical, dispassionate manner to the judge, including all receipts for the work the young gun did and potentially a written statement from the indy. Also get a couple of repair estimates (or have the actual repair bill from the indy if you have to get it fixed quick) to present as the reasonable value of the damages.
