Most of the 4x4's here in the states are pretty plush, but the unltimate irony is that they really aren't all that good in the snow. In Michigan we get a lot of snow, and when there two or three feet of it in the driveway, 4x4's are actually pretty good at that. But on the plowed highway (where one typically spends most of the time) when the snow is hard packed and icy, 4x4's are a real handful. I routinely cruise at 75-80 mph on icy roads in my Saab with ease, while the 4x4's are poking along at 50. After a snow storm, the vast majority of vehicles you see in the ditch or upside down along the road are 4x4's. They do make one look more manly though, especially when they're winching it out of a snow bank.
