There have been a number of recent posts questioning the cause of general/steering wheel vibration.

I have been experiencing significant front-end shimmies for the past 8k miles - especially at speeds over 70 mph. I was convinced that it was due to front wheel balance/warped rotors or bad suspension bushes. I have had the front wheels balanced a number of times! The rotors were Ok and I had poly bushes fitted 10 months ago

In desperation, I had each tyre checked by a specialist yesterday. One of the rear tyres was found to have a small "high spot" on the tread area - you could hardly see it!!

With a new rear tyre the car glides like silk - especially at higher speeds.I would never have guessed that such a small defect in the would cause such a significant problem. I will learn from this one!
