Thanks for the physics lesson I know FWD isn't the best platform for making a car go fast in a straight line. But then you can say the same thing about making a car go around corners (torque-steer). That's why people call Front wheel drive Wrong wheel drive(But we know better). But both handling and launching a FWD car can be improved by dropping it and damping it right. Have I heard of FWD dragsters?, yes, haven't you?. Drag Racing FWD cars is a huge sport now and there are FWD cars out there that can run 8 sec quarter miles. Anyway I'm not trying to build a drag car or anything like that. I was just looking to see how fast you can make a 9000 go, and a 1/4 mile is a good benchmark because I know what a lot of cars can do it in. Plus one nice thing about driving FWD compaired with AWD is that AWD cars drivetrains weigh so much after they get their great 0-30mph time its all downhill from there and youll gain on them in every gear till theyre in your rear view. Plus the AWD drivetrain eats up a lot of horsepower. Ex:
Acura Integra* type R 190hp 0-30mph 2.6secs 1/4mile 14.5 vs
Subaru Impreza WRX 227hp 0-30mph 2.0secs 1/4mile 14.6
*no I don't like hondas this is just an example
Don't get me wrong I like AWD in powerful cars, but I'm don't have the money to build a car that can take advantage of it.
