starter broken?

This morning I stopped at a bakery on my way to the University. After buying a donut I came out and tried to start the car. All the lidash lights came on, but unfortunately the car did not start. I heard a single "click" from the engine but alas there was no combustion.
This comes on the heels of experiencing some difficulty getting the engine to catch (cranking the engine and pumping the gas pedal for ~10-15 seconds before it catches)
AAA has certainly proved useful this year - I'd rather be able to drive the car under its own power though.
My guess is that the starter is broken and I need a new one. Is there assent from the crowd? I drove the car last night - it was rainy - and the car seemed to work just fine. So what gives? I checked and found that the trigger wire is still signaling, I don't know what else might be wrong.
