1990 2.0l 9kt DI
Car's been running perfectly. Luckily when it started to stumble I was less than 1 mile from my house, but on the highway. I got towed. My theories are fuel pump or DI cassette. How can I diagnose. The car simply started stumbling once I got on the highway, miss miss stumble stumble, slowed down lost power, stalled. Won't restart. Turns over fine.
Perhaps coincidentily I put in new plugs last week (several hundred miles ago now) NGK BCPR7EVX-11 (as far as I know the right plugs, and had no trouble at all after gapping and installing them, so I'm assuming that's unrelated).
My first test I'm going to do is to listen for the fuel pump to come on. Do I need to turn the car over or just turn it to on? I have no idea how to test the DI cassette. I have another saab in the driveway (1987 9kt) which is not DI, but if I end up suspecting the fuel pump, how long should it take me to switch the fuel pump in? A couple hours or less?
Any thing else I should be looking at?
It could be worse,
bg
