That's how long my used one lasted. You never know, but you're replacing a part known to fail with a used version. The velcro idea doesn't work because, as you probably noticed, the bottom of the visor's travel is where it likes to hang, and this obscures your vision.

Fixing the spring steel inside the visor is impossible. You can cannibalize from another, used visor, but I don't see how this would be better than just buying a used 9000 visor. Same lifespan, more work. I've had this happen on four visors in three 9000's. Replaced all but one with new.
