use the fact that the car has TCS to beat the seller up into selling for a lower price...."nobody wants those things, they're so freaking goofy!"
Here's a secret; the TCS is a pretty stable system, and almost all of the problems are on thrashed out crap cars, and the rest of the problems usually end up being solved by an 80 dollar part.
As far as being able to DIY, wellllll..this wouldn't be the car to pick up thinking it is a DIY car, but if it's got a new timing chain, your only possible trouble spots are the balance chains and the usual first gen 9K problems. Sooner or later, you WILL need someone with an ISAT tester, there is no getting around that.
