By my book, in Econ, the A/C does not operate. So it is not A/C condensate causing the problem (and in any case, having A/C on would tend to remove the fog). I would check the A/C drain as it could be clogged and the air is picking up some moisture as it passes through the chiller box - if water is blocked up in there, it would be stagnant and that could explain the musty smell. Another possibility is a leak in the heater tubes - so that engine coolant is being picked up in the circulating air. If you are using antifreeze, you would usually smell a faintly sweet odor if engine coolant is leaking into the car. Beyond that, I would check that the floor under the carpets is dry. If they are damp/wet, look for a leak from the windows/doors or roof drains (if you have a sun roof)
