Injection changes on a '74

I am seriously trying to put LH EFI onto a '74 2.0L that is currently wearing a carb. Unfortunately I gave away the d-jet manifolds I had years ago. Looking at the CIS manifolds, the depth of the injector holes, combined with the acute angle between them and the intake runners mean that even if I try machining the tops off, the length is still too long to give a short enough distance between the injector and the valve.
Anyone have any ideas on this? Anyone ever tried it? Anyone have any friends with d-jet intakes in the way in the back of their garage?
Other than that, has anyone had to use a fuel tank from a d-jet car with a CIS or LH injection system?
Thanks, everyone.
