Fan contact, thermostat, and switch Posted by Gary Stottler [Email] (#1463) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Gary Stottler) on Tue, 7 Jun 2011 08:14:13 In Reply to: Re: Radiator fan on all the time?, Stephen, Sat, 4 Jun 2011 17:01:51 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
The fan contact on all 99s is on the outlet side of the radiator, so everything else in the system gets hot before the switch. I don't really think you want the fan running all the time (unless the AC is on, but that's another story). I recommend purchasing and installing an 82C thermostat and 82C fan contact (both available from Chip Lamb at West of Sweden). Those will keep the engine running relatively cooler in general. On top of that, I do also have an override switch on the dash on my 99 Turbo, but not on my EMS (that car seems to run very cool with the aforementioned parts). You do need to check all the connections in the whole circuit, particularly under the fuse/relay panel as mentioned. They tend to fail at the worst possible time - when they get hot - and if the connections in the circuit are not good, no amount of manual switching is going to help.
Good Luck!
