And from the inside.
To get it that far in the crank snout sticks through the firewall about an inch. There is room for the alternator and water pump pulleys and belts, but there is no room to get the belts off unless you move the engine FORWARD a little bit, and no room to get the crank pulley off.
I have heard of people who made 'trap doors' in the firewall to access the crank pulley from the inside, but that didn't seem acceptable to me since I am customizing everything anyway.
The car was originally meant to run in the ChumpCar, and I still will run it there, although it is much too well prepped compared to what that field is actually like. I will do track days, Auto-X, Rally-X, and other non-sanctioned events with it for now, but the cage is FIA-253 stage rally compliant if I ever decide to rally it as well, though I'd be running in the unlimited 2WD classes now that it's got the 'wrong' engine in it.
