I just had Andy at IPS read the elusive notice B-23 to me. It basically says connect D+ from the harness (red wire) to D+ on the alternator. Connect the output (big gray wires) in the same way as the old alternator. Ignore DF and DE (black and yellow) on the harness.

So now I just have to figure out how to elegantly connect it without it looking like a hack. Some type of nice adapter harness is what I have in mind.
