Just providing a little write-up for my newest project, converting a 1972 Saab w/Truimph motor and automatic to a 1977 B motor 4speed.
Engine: Original motor mounts work fine, motor clearance to brake booster is tight. Had to install later type heater core with so that heater inlet/outlet did not interfere with (top mounted) alternator, this required cutting into back of heater box. Clutch: Had to retap clutch master (mounted of top of firewall) to accept threads on later type clutch line (SAE/Metric). Drive axles: installed later type axle assemblies/calipers, had to install new parking brake cables and handbrake lever and modify handbrake half-sprocket to enable ratchening of lever. Fuel tank: Installed 77 tank, had to cut off end of pass side rear link bolt and hammer in front of lower trunk area for clearance. Ran new nylon fuel lines from engine bay. Wiring: Switched fuseblock from driver's side to pass side, installed 1977 wiring harness. Seats: Repaired sagging driver seat bottom, the 1977 seat bottom will not work, the 2 bolt pattern for seat back is not the same as on earlier models. CIS injection: mounted air flow meter assembly with factory bracket and removed electronic injection unit. Still need to find/ fabricate clutch pedal/shaft to operate vertically mounted clutch master. Also replaced the rubber portions of brakelines with new (front and rear) as they had gummed up solid (front rubber hoses have different threads than later years.) More to follow...
