It sounds like there could be a couple of issues. For the master cylinder, I suggest sending the one you have to White Post Restorations in Virgina. They will re-sleeve it, rebuild it, and give you a lifetime warranty for something like $200. Also, calipers not retracting is often a sign of internal swelling of the rubber flex hoses. As a safety mattter I would highly recommend getting rid of 40 year old rubber hoses anyway! They may be available from NAPA (just watch them on the application info, they may try to convince you that "one hose fits all"). If not, try contacting Paragon Performance in California, I think if you send them your old hoses they can make you a new set of teflon/stainless ones for something like $100 or so.
