I am not sure if all the wires in the harness go to the turn signal switch or not; you also have the horn and the wiper switch wires running up through the steering column. That said, black wires are often grounds - do you have continuity from that wire to the body? From what I can see on the wiring diagram, the turn signal switch wires are as follows:
Brown/white - 12V power
Green - to the flasher (acts as ground I think)
Red/white - to Left side rear
Blue/white - to right side rear
Yellow - to left side front
Grey - right side front
There is a black wire shown from a 3-way connector which goes to the EGR control lamp (the one in the middle of the dash), but I'm not clear on exactly where that connector is.
I am referring to the wiring diagram on page 371-23 of the Service Manual. It is labelled "Wiring Diagram" but should actually say "Wiring Diagram, Saab 99 Turbo, Model 1978"
