Cylinder head studs in various British engines... Not that this has (much) to do with Saab 99s, but I no longer fear the 1.7/1.85 cylinder head studs. Because....(Don, you may appreciate this - or, better yet, have some counsel to offer) I am currently working on removing the cylinder heads from a Jag V-12 that my son bought. Has something like 118 studs all in (seems like it anyway), and I'm told that the heads routinely seize onto the studs requiring all manner of foolishness to remove them.
Once the "B" head is off then we can find out how many of the cylinders had their bores scored by bits of the 6B intake valve seat which apparently decided to depart from the head.
This silliness makes Saab engineering (even the 1969 99) seem coldly rational and purposeful....
What fun!
Best,
Gary
