I read it while researching. It is in the 1978 owner's manual. Also, you can research it on saabnet-1978 model news.. Lower compression, and also 110hp vs 115hp for non lambda vehicles. I often recall the early lambda systems troublesome. I've had numerous early model 900s. Hesitation and then sudden surges. They always seem more sluggish, in comparison to non lambda 900s. My first 900 was a 79ems; great acceleration.

Would it run better in the sense of cleaner emissions?

Many years ago, I had a 1978 coral white 5 door;the performance was unreal. Initially, I planned to place a 16valve turbo. The idle on that b engine was so steady, that I removed the automatic, and bolted a 4 speed. The acceleration was immediate, right off the line. The pull was amazing through every gear. It'll go right up to 80mph with ease.

So one day, my brother pulls up with his 88 spg, and there we were..at a light. The light turned green; he never caught up. That little coral white 99 leaped from first gear, that I left him by three car lengths; 2nd gear..the same nasty acceleration, 3rd gear...the spg was dusted! When he caught up at the next red light; he was shocked.

Yes 45hp does appear beautiful on paper.
