I found one that works great, Bosch 69513.
I adapted post to terminal with the correct nuts 4m-0.70 for the positive and 5m-0.80 for the negative post :-) what I later realized is that a wafer thin layer of sediment and rust particles formed inside the pickup that floated up to under suction restricting fuel flow. my old pump is actually just fine but I swapped it out for the new one. I also pumped diesel into the old one and kept it in a zip lock for that special day when I need a backup.
Bosch 69513 is the fuel pump I ended up buying for the 1978 turbo 99
