I can’t answer your question, but my first car was a ‘76 99 that I bought from my local Saab dealer in 1980 with 90k miles. It also had a hot start issue that was solved with the Saab kit you describe that the dealer installed under warranty. I find that our older cars don’t start that well with the added ethanol in today’s blends. It must evaporate faster. My ‘76 Triumph TR6 starts but stalls repeatedly after a hot start and I have to goose the accelerator pedal to keep it going. And it has an added plate over the exhaust manifold...which is under the Zenith Stromberg carburetors. Sometimes my ‘72 99E with its early electronic fuel injection stumbles when first started when hot but it starts quickly unlike my ‘76 99.
