choking on paint prices

just got back from an "upper level" body shop and i am a bit choked about the price tag attached to a good paint job. I'm looking at 2 Large which, in the broad scope of things probably is not really out of line at all. it would include some body work, a couple coats of primer, 3 coats of paint, and 2 coats of clearcoat, plus sanding and buffing. i know you get what you pay for, but really how BAD would Maaco's best look in comparison. Besides the fact that a good paint job would last longer - i hate it, but i just don't have that kind of $$ to put into this car. It's kind of like - how disappointed would I be with a Maaco job? Priorities SUCK!
