I have a lightened '76 2dr but unfortunatly I can't really answer the question of how light it can get. I took mine to a scrap metal place where they have a large scale and the guy who weighed it told me it was "2720" lbs. Swede says that a stock one is in the 2400 range, I thought it was closer to 2700. My car has a fiberglass hood, fiberglass trunk, polycarbonate windows, stripped out interior, two lightweight OMP race seats (they look like carbon fiber but I think they're probably dark colored fiberglass), and some other weight reduction (its a Belgian car afterall!). It does have some weight additions such as a skidplate (maybe 30 or 40 lbs) and a significant roll cage, but I know the cage weighs around 100 lbs because I helped a friend strip his old 99 rally car and his cage (which was very similar to mine) was light enough for me to lift (and I'm a wimp).
Another friend had his '80 99 weighed. It has a cage, stripped interior, 2 lightweight Sparco seats, etc. and he was told 2300 lbs. He dosen't have any fiberglass body panels or lightweight glass replacement, which would mean that his car would easily weigh 200 lbs more than mine. So it may be possible that my car weighs 2100, not 2700. I'd like to weigh it again sometime on an acurate scale.
