The stuff I bought from NAPA was actually two parts > red goop in a blue tube and a spray can of cleaner/activator. You coat one surface with the goop, spray the other surface with the activator, wait a set period of time, slap parts together, tighten bolts.
I've used it three times on my water pump housing with good success, and twice on my intake manifold > with no leaks. (one time the intake manifold leaked because I did something wrong, so I ended up using a gasket the next time)
When the stuff dries, it forms an invincible bond > strong like glue. Every intake I've used it on was a bear to get back off, and the dried remains on the disassemled parts is NOT easy to scrape off, nor has any solvent I've used remove it. If the red goop doesn't dry(stays sticky), then the activator didn't work correctly.
