Jesse-
I would suggest you leave the lambda and the fifth injector alone... You do need a good fifth injector, but I do not suggest you use it as a fuel boost. It is positioned too closely to the intake for it to properly atomize. It will likely cause cylinders three and four to get much more fuel than one and two. Bad news, that. As for the '76 distributor, you can just swap the metering plates, and not the distributors... I have been told that this should not work, but I have done it myself with great results. As for tuning the mixture, a CO2 meter in the tailpipe is the best way to find the accurate mix. The lambda in your car works on a narrow band, that is not very good for tuning, not to mention the inherent inaccuracy of most a/f gauges. That or get a wideband O2 sensor. That's gonna cost ya though.
My recommendation for squeezing some more power out of your B motor: Tune it up very carefully. Check fuel pressures, put in a new cap and rotor and wires. New plugs. New O2 sensor. Check your timing. Install a header, and a free flowing exhaust. The exhaust from a turbo would be a big improvement. Quite honestly, fuel should be last on the list after you do all these things. Get a book called "How Tune & Modify Bosch Fuel Injection" By Ben Watson. This book describes how to do all the tests, in very easy to understand terms. There is another great text on the subject called "Bosch Fuel Injection and Engine Management" By Charles Probst or something like that... This book is fantastic for understanding the theory and function, but not very good for a shop manual. CIS fuel delivery is more of a concern among the turbo crowd. N/A engines should easily be getting enough gas from this system. The lambda system works, and it works well. If you disconnect the fifth injector, you will have a hard time starting it everyday. Your fuel economy will also go to crap. I didnt think that would matter to me either, until I drove a car with poor economy for a while. My unmollested '85 900 with CIS gets ~28mpg. My 99t gets about 16-20 MPG. On a smaller tank too, so I am always filling that thing.
Good luck.
