The 'cards in the spokes' sounds a bit like what I had when I was experiencing low oil pressure, but when that happenend the oil light would come on. I really have no idea. You can always do a compression check, check your ignition goodies. Test the coil (seeing as it starts acting funny once warmed up...but then it goes away which isn't typical), and you can always check fuel pressure. I'd clean out the mesh in the warm up regulator at minimum, check/change fuel filter and then make sure you aren't experiencing a lack of fuel...which makes sense all of a sudden, due to a clogged pick up in the fuel tank. Actually, I'd check there first. If the pickup is clogged, you may not be able to get enough fuel at higher rpms, etc, which would induce detonation (flapping cards?) Just a thought.
As far as the tail pipe fluid goes, it is most likely just water.
