Mikael Hemmingsen(he posts here as Mikael H.)
He walked around the parking lot at the Cincinnati show in 2002 with a set of the arch trims, poking me in the side with them everytime we crossed paths(he has connections overseas for them)....but I didn't buy them from him until a year later at the Hershey convention. I thought the blue '73 looked good without them, plus I remember them trapping dirt and causing rust(and fading, delaminating, and cracking), so I decided not to spend the $150.
They deducted a few poits from the 75 because it didn't have the chrome arch moldings, which they said were put on from the factory. My argument was that they were not put on at the factory, but they were installed by the dealer before delivery > as well as the EMS whoosh stripe kit. I know this because the '75 came with those things in the trunk, and the original owner told me in a phone conversation that he didn't want the dealer to install those on his car....so he held onto them for 27 years....the whoosh kit is now in my basement.
I installed the chrome strips that came with the 75 onto the 73 sometime in 2003, and I liked the look(I think this was the same time I installed new chrome locking strips for the front and back glass too). Lots of chrome looked great! No worry about dirt getting trapped anymore either as the car never gets dirty, or wet.
So that's why I bought the chrome arch trim from Mikael > so the 75 could be one step closer to "original" in the judges' eyes.
