I just got my 99 with 16vt back on the road after sitting for nine months.
1. Switched out the alternator to a double pulley version. The pulley still rubbed under acceleration so I dropped the front of the engine by modifying the front mount. Cut the top metal bowl (where the upper bushing rests)off of the motor mount and bolted a hockey puck to the mount as my top bushing. I retained the bottom rubber bushing. This dropped the front of the engine 1/2 inch and gave me the clearance I needed on the firewall.
2. Added a thick 99 radiator a buddy had. I think these were used in the air conditioned cars. Had the rad. shop modify the driver's side port from a top to a bottom outlet like the 900 radiator. Also dumped the heavy, double radiators and mounted a new lightweight pusher. This setup works very well-plus I don't have the massive amp draw when the doubles kick on.
3. A 16vt in a 99 is an excellent setup. Be sure and upgrade the front suspension with new bushing top and bottem and try and box in the lower a arms. All the extra power will highlight any shortcomings in your suspension.
Good Luck,
Gregg Cronn
