and it's worked flawlessly in my 1976 99. This is the single most important upgrade ever done to my car. Easier starting, better high rpm performance, better cold running, cleaner spark plugs, less maintenance.
xr-3000 is higher performance than the xr-700, but it needs a coil without ballast resistance. The xr-700 needs ballast resistance. I don't know what coil is on 1974, but 1975 and up uses the Bosch Blue Coil, which has internal ballast resistance, and works with the xr-700.
Ellwood, what coil are you using with your xr-3000?
On installation, I wanted a factory look, so I created a wiring harness in black loom like the factory wiring. I mounted the control module on a bracket on the rh fender. The bracket came from 1978 and later 99's and it held the Bosch ecu on those cars.
For purchasing, try summit racing - they had competitive prices last time I checked.
