I wrote a long reply to this but it seems to have not taken. So here is the short of it:
I can't see the photo you posted so I'll assume we're talking about the same large O-ring in the oil pump.
The "double seal" O-rings ("X" shape cross section) shouldn't be used. They lock the pump but the distributor keeps spinning so the oil pump shaft gets twisted and breaks. After that mistake I switched to the 57mm inner diameter 3mm width o-rings. They work well. part number 9262K309 from mcmaster-carr supply
If you want to find one at a local hardware store, a standard AS568A-140 O-ring (2 1/4" ID 3/32" width) should work fine. The actual inner diameter (2.237") is virtually identical to the 57mm one I used and the actual width (0.103") is just a tiny bit smaller than the 3mm width (0.118") I used. I thought a 1/4" wide O-ring would work but the actual width is 0.139" and is probably too wide.
The 3mm width was a good fit for the groove. The O-ring needs to stand out of the groove in order to make contact with the other surface it seals against. It will squish down when the oil pump bolts are tightened. When new it will look a lot different than an old O-ring because it won't be hard and flattened out.
