EMS Rack Question

I just swapped in an EMS steering rack into my 1980 GLi. I bought the rack probably 3 or 4 years ago, but never got around to putting it in 'til now. Last night, just for the heck of it, I checked how many turns lock-to-lock the rack has. The steering wheel turned just over 4 turns. I thought the standard rack was 4.1 turns and the EMS rack was 3.5, so I'm wondering if I actually installed a standard rack. Anybody know how many turns for the EMS rack?
Also, When turned all the way to one side, the steering wheel is at about the 3 o'clock position. Turning it back 2 turns (ie, what should center the wheels) of course puts the steering wheel at the 3 o'clock position, isntead of at 12 o'clock. I'm not sure how this happened, since the car drove straight (mostly) with the old rack and steering wheel at 12 o'clock, and I tried to be careful about aligning the steering column when putting in the new rack. Do I need to pull the steering wheel and reinstall it in the proper orientation? Or will tracking be taken care of when I get a wheel alignment for the toe-in?
TIA
