Thanks for giving Gardner that info. I tend to assume that after 30 years, owners af these cars have had them awhile :)

That is classic fuel leakdown. When the engine is shut off hot, fuel pressure retained in the accumulator (under the LR wheel well) keeps the fuel in the now very hot injectors from boiling away, creating a vapor lock situation. This is overcome when the engine is cold through the cold start circuit. You can install a momentary switch on your dash to fire the cold-start valve at-will, or fix it right.
I have found a very common failure point to be the 3mm O-rings in the fuel pump check valve. I even have a small box of them I keep just for that.
The check valve is the white plastic part under the main banjo bolt and can be unthreaded by an old screwdriver w/a slot cut in it.
A valved gauge will help you isolate the offending circuit...
