Do I regret it? no. I wish the car hadn't gotten into an accident a few years back because I was keeping things pretty tight when I moved the firewall, etc. I could change the belt but that was all the room I left for myself. With the accident, and despite having everything get a glowing report of being "straight as an arrow", I know the engine doesn't sit in there the same way. When I stomp on the gas things can rub...namely the alternator on the vacuum booster. When/if I get the engine out again, I'll move things back a little further. This was my first 16V conversion, done by myself, and I've learned to do it better since. I have photo documentation somewhere of the last conversion I did with John Wirt and I think it was the cleanest looking 16V conversion I've seen. Maybe Rowan (guy that owns the car) won't agree but I hope he does. he has had some issues with the LH system since as we went with a 2.1L NA engine and put a turbo on it. I know a little more since then as well and a tweaked chip solved my problems straight up, but putting a regular turbo or even a NA 16v in the car wouldn't bring these issues into play. The problem with the 16V setup is generally with the exhaust downpipe. If you are handy, you can work something out on your own. If not, know you will need a custom downpipe made. If you ever want to talk in more detail, don't hesitate to contact me off site.
